Education & Outreach

We aim to address the tough questions that immigrants in our community face: questions about citizenship, residency, asylum, filing fees, undocumented issues, etc. Working with other local organizations and with groups from other cities, we educate ourselves on immigration issues, make connections and find resources, host educational events and legal clinics, and provide aid for local immigrants.

As a means to end isolation, we created a unique visitation program at the Monroe County ICE Detention Center, offering weekly English classes and monthly Know your Rights sessions to the immigrants detained there.

What We’ve Achieved

  • Partnered with Catholic Legal Services to offer Immigration legal clinics in Key West.

  • Offered Know Your Rights trainings and presentations.

  • Supported and helped pass the Key West Welcoming City resolution.

  • Created a weekly visitation program at our Monroe County ICE detention center.  We offered English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) classes to immigrants detained as a means to end isolation.

  • Created a monthly Know Your Rights visitation program with local attorneys to assist those detained.

  • Helped reunite a family by leading a refugee resettlement program.
